New Ste Rose Principal - Cara Zurzolo

Ste Rose School Logo (Celtic)

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Cara Zurzolo. I am the newly appointed Principal of Ste. Rose School. I am honoured and enthusiastic to work with students, families and staff in our school and community. I am originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have spent the last 8 years living here in Ste. Rose with my husband Gilles and our children. Together, Gilles and I own and operate an Egg and Honey Farm. I’ve learned so much moving to the rural area, and I’m amazed at the generosity and time our community gives to support each other. I’m forever changed by living here. I have 17 years of experience in the K-12 education context. I have held a variety of positions in schools: classroom teacher, teacher-librarian, literacy support teacher, resource teacher and administrator. I have worked in large and small settings, however my commitment to being an educational leader has remained the same.

Consistent with my understanding of an educator’s work, I take seriously my commitment to service in the community and to educational practices that create an environment of belonging. Education should inspire curiosity and create habits of mind that serve students well as they aspire and construct their own futures. Schools should be a place where students experience the excitement of being changed by ideas. In keeping with our divisional vision, we are “Learning today for tomorrow”.

I believe a principal’s role in a school doesn’t only happen in the office, it happens in the small daily tasks, my presence alongside our staff and students is paramount. We walk this journey together.

I look forward to the year to come.

Sincerely, Cara Zurzolo
